Time to think about trading Wright and Reyes too

Sorry about the lack of posts. So here we are, with only 9 days left to trade Beltran is he the only player they trade? Personally I think it's been time to start over from the bottom to top. Start with Beltran, slowly start taking offers for Wright, and finally finish it off and deal Reyes. This is not easy for me to say, in fact I would like the Mets to keep Reyes, but with the way the team is constructed they will not win with just Reyes. The NL East is too deep in pitching and talent for the Mets to compete. I think the Mets could get top tier prospects by throwing Reyes on the block after they trade Beltran. Then after you trade Reyes for top level Prospects you trade Wright too.

Unfortunately the window closed on this team three years ago. To move forward we must take steps back. Citifield is going to be a ghost town anyway come August. Why not maximize the talent we get back, and throw a bunch of kids with high upside. Because this team will not win a championship.

Randoms Thoughts; Evan Roberts, Brett Myers, Phillies

Yesterday during the Beningo and Roberts show on Wfan, Evan Roberts broke down the Escobar-Gonzalez deal. He summed up Alex Gonzalez as a great postseason player. The guy has a career .167 postseason BA. Great? Far from it, more like one great moment.

If the Mets get any pitcher before the deadline it will be Brett Myers. He won't cost that much in terms of prospects, and more importantly to the Wilpons he is owed 3MM pro-rated. If they can get Myers he would add a little swagger to the staff along with a vendetta against Philly.

Speaking of Philly why is there rumors about Jayson Werth being available? The guy is one of the 3 best right fielders in MLB. Why are sports writers counting the Phillies out? They still are the team to beat in the NL.

More Anti Lebron shit

I'm still not over it.
I just don't understand, how a player that good joins a team like Miami.  They are the third most popular team in Miami behind the Dolphins and the U.  What a bitch!

Don't make the mistake of counting on Beltran

Carlos Beltran is the best center fielder in baseball.  He is almost a year removed from playing his last game, and is coming off major knee surgery.  Don't think for one second that he is going come back and be that big Midseason aquisition that sports radio has portrayed.  Like we saw from Reyes earlier in the season, it takes about 5 to 6 weeks for players to get caught up to major league pitching.

Carlos will struggle and about the time the Mets are about 7 games back by the end of August, fans will be calling for Pagan to start.

The Mets are close but in my opinion Beltran will not be the difference in the division.  It is very short sided to think he will be that midseason aquisition.  Didn't we go through this last year?

This is typical Mets propoganda that has come out of the front office since the winter.  It wasn't that long ago how they were trying to sell fans on Ollie P and John Maine.  I am really starting to think the owners are broke.  Seriously, they could have landed Cliff Lee.  He is only owed 6MM the rest of the way, and they have a lot of good prospects.  Omar will say that he is ALWAYS looking to upgrade the team.  Except it has to be the right price.  Name one team that is willing to part with inexpensive pitching?

The deadline is two weeks away, but I don't forsee the Mets adding payroll and that is a shame.

The greatest owner in all of sports

If GS owned the Mets or Knicks how many titles would he have won? From 1980 on how many ?

I will say at least 3 with the Mets. Two coming in the 1980s, and additional one in 2006. The guy would spend whatever it takes.

Two with the Knicks. One coming in the late 90s after he ran Pat Ewing out of town and signed Shaq and Reggie Miller. The last one in 2007, after drafting Amare Stoudemire, signing Kobe, and Jerry West retired in his final year as Knicks gm since 1995. The Knicks swept the Spurs.

Mets 48-40 at the break

If you told me that in January I would have laughed. It's not bad for this team.

Manuel has managed well. He keeps the team on an even keel, and seems to have a good feel about what his guys can do.

It's too bad this team can't take on some extra salary. They are close enough to make a run at a playoff spot. The team has holes but a little tweaking could go a long way. Obviously a front line starter would be ideal, but a guy that can eat innings and get you quality starts would do wonders. Kenny Rogers had one bad inning, but he pitched great down the stretch of the 1999 team.

I will say it again. Castillo has to go. The guy is not a good fit on this team. I want Steven Drew for 2b.

Jim Dolan should buy the Mets if they are in financial trouble. The guy tries to buy people and help the team. The same can't be said about the Wilpons.

The storm has passed

Well I'm used to being disappointed with my three favorite teams. Now that I digested the whole LeCon thing, here is what I think.

Enough of the wait for the class of 2010,2011, and 2012 free agents. Unless you are one star away, the free agency thing doesn't work in the NBA.

Trading is the way to go. The Celtics, Lakers, and Nets are just a few of the many examples and trading for guys at the right time.

Lebron James is a total pussy. Do you think Jordan or Kobe would have Ever left their teams in their prime, and joined a team that already had a star that won a championship? A true star player takes his team on his back.

I think the Knicks will miss Jamal Crawford. He would have been a nice second option to A'Mare. Galo would be the number 3 guy, and that team would be 50 plus wins.

The Knicks need one more go to guy. Enough with the Carmelo and CP3 talk, i have waited long enough. This team gets one more go to guy and they will get to the second round.
